Carl believes he is a designed object who designs objects. He is driven by the desire to climb into the mind of the Great Creator and understand nature’s complex systems. Carl plays with 3D objects in his mind, spinning them around and unfolding them until he can see them in new ways. He wants the wearer to delight again in the beauty of simple geometric structures. Carl’s pieces are usually 3D drawn and printed, but his recent work harnesses laser-cut titanium scaffolds covered with silver and gold, filed back to reveal the skeleton beneath.

Carl lives on the beautiful east coast of Tasmania Australia. He’s a graduate of Sydney College of the Arts (Fine Arts/ Jewellery) and qualified visual arts teacher. He’s also the founder of Silversmith School and a three-time National Contemporary Jewellery Award finalist.
